Installation wizard

Use this wizard to install a package to specific workstations.

To view this administrative console page, click System administration > Centralized Installation Manager > Available installations > package_type > installation_package > installation_target > Install or Install Using Response File.

The number of wizard steps can vary depending on the version and type of installation package that you choose to install. The option to use a response file to install a package is available only in WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0.

Accept software license agreement

Read and accept the license agreement to continue installing the software package to specific installation targets.

Click View License Agreement to read the license agreement. After you read the agreement, accept the terms and click Next to continue.

Select authentication method

Select an authentication method to access the installation target and click Next.

You can select to either use the Secure Shell (SSH) public and private key method or the user name and password method to authenticate. To use the SSH public and private key method, you must first create a pair of keys. Next, install the public keys on all the installation targets. Use the Install SSH Key wizard on the Installation Targets panel to install the public key.

Select authentication settings

Depending on the authentication method that you choose in step 2, provide the appropriate user name and password for one or more installation targets, or provide the location of the SSH private key file and password on the deployment manager.

If you choose to authenticate by using the user name and password method, you can provide a common user name and password to access all of the installation targets, or you can configure unique user names and passwords for each target. You can store the user name and password for each installation target on the Installation Targets panel.

Click Next to continue.

Specify response file

Specify the location of the response file on the remote deployment manager. This step appears only in the administrative console for WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0.

Type the location of the response file, or click Browse to select the file from a directory that is located on the remote deployment manager.

Specify location settings

Specify the installation location and the working location of each installation target.

The installation location is the remote location of the installation target in which the packages will be installed. In the case of certain packages that require an empty location, the following reminder is displayed in the column:

Specify an empty directory

The working location specifies the directory on the remote target to which the files are sent before the package is installed in the specified location.

Click Next to continue.

Augment profiles

To augment the profile of the specified node, select the node from the list. By default, all nodes on the target installation location are selected. This steps appears only in the administrative console.

This step is presented only when the wizard detects a package that requires profile augmentation. If you choose not to augment the profile, you must manually perform the profile augmentation by using the manageprofiles command line tool on the target host.

Click Next to continue.

Specify command parameter pages

Specify additional choices for the current installation request based on the details of each command page.

This step appears only with certain installation package types in the administrative console.

Click Next to continue.

Summary

Read the installation summary and click Finish to submit the installation request to the centralized installation manager for processing.

To change any settings, click Previous.
