External configuration service

Use this page to enable or disable configuration files associated with a middleware server.

To view this administrative console page, click Servers > All servers > middleware_server > External configuration service, or Servers > Server types > middleware_server_type > middleware_server > External configuration service.

You must have administrative privileges to configure the service, edit and view files. Users with configurator privileges can use the service to edit and view files, while users monitor privileges can only read the configuration files.

You can use the external configuration service for the following purposes:

Enable external configuration service

Enables the external configuration service.

Select the check box to enable the service. Click OK.

Add a file to the external configuration service

To add a file to the external configuration service, you specify the path of the file and the file permissions. Click Add to add the file to the list.

Fully qualified path name of a configuration file
Specifies the fully-qualified path name of the configuration file. You can use a variable in your path name, for example:
${CATALINA_HOME}/conf/server.xml 
Writeable
If selected, the file is writable from the administrative console. If deselected, the file is read-only.

Existing configuration file list

Lists the configuration files that are added to the external configuration service for your server.

File path
Identifies the path and file name of the configuration file. The path has default file names listed.
File privileges
Specifies read or write privileges that are assigned for each file. Select a file, then click Toggle privileges to change the privilege type.
